I am very excited to put up my very first DIY in post form! This one was quick and easy. There were a few hiccups….I kinda knocked the glitter container over with my foot and spilled a lot of glitter. I got most of it back in the jar, thankfully, and vacuumed the rest. I am 99.9% sure I will find glitter still later on in the year. What can you do? It is glitter!
For this DIY, you will need the following supplies I have pictured below:
- Empty candle jars. Make sure all the wax is out and it has been washed.
- Glitter in the color of your choice. I chose these shades of since they match my bedroom where the jars are going. The glitter is from Walmart
- Sponge brushes. I got this pack for 97 cents at Walmart.
- Mod Podge in Gloss. I got this small size from Target’s dollar section.
- A clear space to work on.
- A piece of scrap paper.
These are the steps you need to take to create lovely glitter jars!
First, drop a quarter-size worth of Mod Podge into the bottom of the jar. Then take your sponge brush and cover the whole inside part of the jar with the Mod Podge. You can add more if you need to but Mod Podge covers pretty well without needing to add a ton.
Next, you will dump a bunch of the glitter inside the jar and turn the jar over and over to cover all the Mod Podge with the glitter. This process is really cool to me. It is fun to watch the glitter get covered. Do the same thing with multiple jars if you have them. Once you have all your jars covered with glitter, take Mod Podge and put it on a piece of scrap paper, and paint the inside of the jar. This takes a bit of work and you may see some glitter come off, but that is okay because you will repeat the same steps two more times. If you are happy with the way your jar came out after the first coat of Mod Podge over glitter, then you are all done! If not, then repeat steps until you are satisfied with your jar. Make you end with a coat of Mod Podge.
That is it! You can do so many creative things with this DIY. You can use two colors in one jar or even multiple colors. The possibilities are endless!! The only limit is your imagination!
I hope you all enjoyed this DIY! Look for more DIY’s coming in the future!!
